“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6, ESV)

Today’s scripture is a robust declaration of faith amid adversity. The psalmist professes with absolute confidence that since God is with him, he harbors no fear. He understands that with God’s divine protection, the actions of fellow humans are trivial.

This verse can be an anchor for us in the face of fear, worry, and anxiety. When we look at the world around us, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the actions of others, whether it be conflict, negativity, cruelty, or merely the uncertainty of their intentions. This uncertainty and worry can often lead us to fear, creating a burden that weighs heavily on our hearts.

However, this verse reminds us that God’s presence is all-encompassing. When God is with us, who can truly be against us? The actions of others may affect us momentarily, but they cannot define our life, destiny, or worth. God, our creator, defender, and provider, holds our lives securely in His hands.

The presence of God does not guarantee an absence of adversity. Instead, it ensures us of a divine companion who will guide, protect, and comfort us through every trial. So when you feel anxious or afraid, remember that the God of the universe is by your side. His presence transcends our understanding and overpowers any earthly concern.

Today, and every day, let’s lean on God’s steadfast presence, letting go of fear and embracing the peace that comes from knowing that our lives are firmly held in His loving hands.
